42% SD flights at HOTMAC field

We had a great time at the H.O.T.M.A.C. (Heart of Texas Model Airplane Club) in Waco Texas on the 18th of July. It was their first High Wing flyin. Ross and I each flew the SD two times. It was the hit of the flyin and a real standout. Here are a few photos.

A couple of weeks ago Jim Dietrick, Ross Woods, and I were out at the GTRCC field to put more flights on our 75# Super Decathlon. I did put 3 flights on it. It is powered by a DA150 and has a 165" wing span. Here are a few photos.

The last photo shows Jim's pilot spilling his cookies after a ride in the Decathlon. After some Gator Aid and rest in the shade he was all right.

Brand new never flown! Hitec 475's on all surfaces. Extra fuse, tail feathers, etc. Everything there except wing and cowl. $250 without motor and speed control or $300 with. And that's with extra parts! Call me anytime, 972-641 4925.

Thunderbirds Memorial Pictures for Jason Skrasek

To day was a very fun and very sad for the Fort Worth Thunderbirds.

Jason Skrasek passed away in a car wreck September 22

He was the thunderbirds secretary.

Today the Thunderbirds held a memorial fly inn for the family and so many friends of Jason's

Their was 4 friends of Jason's that spoke and touched every one of the 49 pilots and maybe 10 or more of the family.

I have included a few pictures of the family and several of the fun fly.

The GTRCC donated 100.00 to the family of Jason's for little Blake's college fund. And before the event was over the envelope was absolutely stuffed with money.

Boy Scouts day out

We had a great time with 42 scouts, members, and the scouts families in attendance. Their was plenty of food for everyone.

1ST Annual Heli Blaze Pictures

A few shots of the Heli Blaze from Ken Spears.
We had a total of 97 helicopters flown and 43 pilots
and around 200 + in spectators.

Chanell 8 will air tonight ,
HD news " National News Station" will send my Interview and film footage.
Grand Prairie Reporter did a great interview with me.

There was a huge amount of media coverage, Let me know what you seen.
Their have been many calls from spectators that was their that has ties with the city and all have raved about the event.
We are as of now, on the map for GP.
and also have removed the bad thoughts of past Heli Events
I have removed the Golden Triangle kiss of death in the Heli World
Now for the Big Bird Next Year..............

08 Big Bird Fly-In

The annual GTRCC Big Bird Fly-In has been sanctioned and posted on the AMA website (no post yet on the D-8 website).

It will be held on Saturday, October 18th. So mark your calendar.

The CD will be David Cash. The landing fee will be $20 and will include lunch for pilots; additinal lunch tickets are just $5 each. Awards will be given away also.

1st Annual Heli Blaze

Our 1st annual Heli Blaze helicopter fun fly event has been sanctioned (#08-0332) for June 13-15. Ron Wedel is CD for this 3 day event. Ron has lined up quite an array of events to put on for this -- looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. I sure am looking forward to it.

I don't want to give away what the events will be, here. I'll let Ron do that when he is ready! :^)

More info on this event is posted on http://www.runryder.com and the AMA District 8 website (www.ama-dist-8.org). Just look in the EVENTS sections on both sites.

I'm sure he will have much more to add at the monthly club meetings.
